The applicant should have been granted an original Certificate of Jamaican Citizenship.

• A letter applying for a Certified Copy should be addressed to:
  • The Chief Executive Officer Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency 25c Constant Spring Road Kingston 10.
  • The letter should state the Name, Address and File Reference Certificate number of the applicant.
  • The applicant is required to state what has happened to the original Certificate of Citizenship and why the certified copy is required.
• The letter should be accompanied by the following documents:
  • Recent Police Report on the status of Original Certificate.
  • A Certified Passport sized photograph of applicant.
  • Parent’s photo I.D. if applicant is a minor.
  • Processing fee & PICA fees are applicable.
• Processing time: Approx. 2 weeks. Applications are accepted at the Jamaican Consulate

Currently the Agency does not offer express service in the processing of citizenship applications.

The Jamaican Passport is valid for 10 years for an adult and five years for children 17 years and under.

No, it cannot. An applicant may, however, obtain an Emergency Travel document if there is an urgent need for travel and provided he or she is Jamaican.

Yes. All countries around the world have been advised by the Government of Jamaica that the old format and the new machine-readable passports are equally valid for travel anywhere in the world. Due notice will be given whenever a decision is taken to withdraw the old format passport.

Most countries will not allow a traveler to enter their country unless the passport is set to expire at least six (6) months after the final day of travel. The standard time for international travel is 6 months.

The CARICOM Passport is an official travel document that can be used for travel within and outside the Caribbean. It will now become the standard issue for the Jamaican passport.

The introduction of this passport will facilitate smoother processing of CARICOM nationals transiting the region. It is intended to foster a greater sense of community within the region and would be a tangible demonstration of one’s membership in the Caribbean family.
